Become Creative With More Space Just Down The Street

What could you do with another room in your house that you could use for storage? Now what if that room wasn't in your house but in one of the local storage unit facilities, such as AMS Groups LLC? You can easily add several dozen square feet of storage space from a nearby storage center. Here are a few ideas to get you started thinking about what you could do with a lot more storage space.

Be Prepared for Holidays and Other Special Occasions

Don't wait to buy Christmas presents a month before Christmas when there are sales all year round. Shop for holiday gifts, anniversary presents and birthday gifts throughout the year and store them in your extra space until you need them. See a sale on baby blankets and you have a niece expecting in a few months? Buy now, store now, give later. Save money by doing your gift shopping early and taking advantage of the sales. By the time Christmas rolls around, you'll be done shopping and have time to relax with a glass of eggnog while everyone else is fighting the crowds.

Have the Right Tools for the Job Without Cluttering Up Your House

The last time you used that spline tool was when you fixed the screen door last spring. The tile saw was handy when you put the new kitchen floor in several years ago, but you haven't used it since. Gather together all of those tools that you don't use on a regular basis and keep them organized in your storage unit. Specialty tools are useful for certain projects, but often have little use otherwise. Unless you sell the tools and buy them again in a few years when you do another home project, they just take up space in your basement or garage. Get them out of your home but keep them handy for the next project.

Rotate Yard and Garden Supplies Based on the Season

You likely have little use for your snow blower in summer and your wheelbarrow in the winter. Use your storage unit to store seasonal tools and supplies so you only have at home what you need for the current season. Swap out your snow shovels, sand, salt and tire chains for your fertilizer spreader, trowels and garden cart when winter changes to spring. Don't clutter up your home with items you won't need for several months.

Take advantage of more space in a storage unit to save time, money and de-clutter your home. You're more likely able to find what you need in your house when you don't have to sort through a lot of things that aren't used right now.
